Hi, I’m Michaela! I am a full-time student in the Masters of Social Work Program at the
University of Windsor. I hold an Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology. I have spent the last four years working in acute inpatient psychiatric care for children and youth ages 5-17.
I believe every human being is unique and there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach. Instead, I
believe each person deserves to seek counseling with a therapist who tailors their approach to what fits the client best. I am extremely passionate about helping people through some of life’s most stressful and challenging situations and developing useful skills to do so. I firmly believe that compassion and empathy are the cornerstones for developing positive working
relationships with individuals. During my practicum, I hope to continue developing skills in
Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. I am very excited about the opportunity to dive into other approaches as well!
Some of my areas of interest include:
- Anxiety
- Emotion Regulation
- Trauma
- Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Stress & Burnout
- Self-Care & Boundaries
