Jonathan Psychotherapy for You

Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy (CCPA)

I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I work from a Rogerian person-centered approach and my counselling is based on client needs using an integrated approach utilizing Cognitive Behavior Therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness-Based therapy and Critical Incident Stress Management.

Rogerian Therapy seeks to decrease the client’s guilt, insecurities, defensiveness, and even close-mindedness by allowing them to think about life in new ways. Clients tell his or her story increasing self-esteem, learning abilities from making mistakes, trust in themselves, positive relationships, and idea of who they are. Clients should be able to express and experience their emotions better in real time as well.

I work with a broad range of psychological issues, including bereavement, trauma, depression, anxiety and addictions. I often work with individuals and families experiencing immediate trauma and crisis, providing continued support throughout the healing process. Since 1998 I've worked with Crisis Lines and RCMP Victim Assistance allowing me an intimate understanding of the complicated dynamics of the law (Criminal and Family) and how those issues are inter-meshed with the trauma of the families affected.
